Start here: mirror selfie preamble - thank u!
I’m trying to be intentional. I do care quite a bit about every day fashion - the vision and the story and the utility of clothes. Developing a personal style is not unlike other avenues of creativity and self exploration. For me, the challenge with style is to marry my drifting attention (toward the new and the unique) to a more grounded, consistent sense of self.
At least it was in October. So here’s what I wore.
Nine West boots, Alice & Olivia skirt, Faconnable men’s shirt, National Geographic jacket, Longchamp glasses
The label on the embroidered jacket says it’s National Geographic merch, which is cool! I found it in the gigantic Aurora Antique Pavilion in Seattle - which, not to blow up this spot, there’s one booth with a massive occult book selection. It fucking rocks. This jacket was one of those things where… you’re standing in the check out line, your arms already overflowing, when you spot something out of the corner of your eye. You nearly missed her, nearly passed her over, and yet when you see her, you know: you must have her.
Los Angeles apparel skirt, Brandy Melville top, Adidas shoes, 1970s French sunglasses from eBay
Typical outfit for my neighborhood walks.
Los Angeles apparel skirt, James Perse shirt, Stuart Weitzman shoes, 1970s French sunglasses from eBay
Wore dis little number to see Pearl. I’m in my quality basics era r/n. I used to be one of those “I have nothing to wear because nothing goes together” girlies b/c I am also a “I simply must purchase the weirdest article of clothing in this store” girlie. It’s extremely refreshing to reach into my wardrobe and be able to throw together a simple and comfortable outfit .. .. that still feels like me.
Helmut lang top, Moschino jeans, Maryam shoes
Dancing queen fit for ABBA night for my wife’s birthday.
Unif sweater, some weird polyester wrap-around skirt I cannot in good conscious recommend, Stuart Weitzman shoes, vintage hand bag
This outfit is comprised of a few things that feel like I stole them even though I paid good, hard-earned cash for them. The unif sweater was tucked away in Wasteland and extremely marked down. Based on the defeated expression of the cashier who rang me up, it was one of those things an employee was hiding away for themselves (actually, okay, they told me point blank: “I was hoping nobody would find this before my shift was over”)(i’m sorry). The bag was a miraculous estate sale find - the kind of estate sale you sort of stumble into, even when you have better things to be doing that day. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a one of a kind.
Let me show you a better picture of the bag.
To me, it’s like an ink-blot test image. What do you see in it? Are they running, spinning, dancing? To me it screamed “the matrix” on first impression, and others have ventured: “oh, it’s exactly like succession.” Julia said: “I think they’re the same person” which blew my mind. One of those things where what you see in it says a lot about you.
Vintage silk top, Alice & Olivia skirt, Prada shoes
Going to see The Cult at The Greek. This top I think is technically a swimsuit cover. The arms are bell-shaped with these darling slits up the sides, it feels very Meghan Draper. I’m about to sing Zou Bisou in front of the entire office and embarrass my new husband type of vibe.
Lastly,
if you would like to shop my closet, I list designer + vintage things all the time on my depop. Ciao!
